Intel Core i5-14400 Spotted on Geekbench Ahead of Release

The benchmarks for Intel’s much-anticipated Core i5-14400 processor have emerged on the renowned Geekbench platform, providing a tantalizing glimpse into the capabilities of this 14th Generation CPU. This leak comes ahead of the chip’s slated release in early 2024, generating a buzz within the tech community.

The Core i5-14400, positioned as a mainstream offering in Intel’s 14th Gen lineup, has garnered attention for its promising specifications. The processor adheres to a similar architectural design as its predecessor, the Core i3-13400, boasting 6 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores, resulting in a total of 10 cores and 16 threads. This configuration underscores Intel’s commitment to delivering substantial processing power for a range of applications.

Clocking in with a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and the ability to boost up to 4.7 GHz, the Core i5-14400 holds the potential for swift and responsive performance. These clock speeds align with prior expectations, indicating that Intel is remaining consistent in its specifications. Additionally, the chip is equipped with 20 MB of L3 cache and 9.5 MB of L2 cache, optimizing data access and retrieval.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the leaked benchmarks lies in the processor’s thermal design power (TDP). The Core i5-14400 is expected to maintain a TDP of 65W at PL1 and 148W at PL2, which suggests a balance between performance and power efficiency. This equilibrium is crucial for users seeking a versatile CPU capable of handling both demanding tasks and everyday computing needs.

As for performance, the Geekbench scores shed light on the Core i5-14400’s capabilities. In single-core tests, the processor garnered an impressive 2464 points, demonstrating its proficiency in handling individual tasks. In the multi-core arena, it achieved a remarkable 13,373 points, affirming its prowess in parallel processing.

Compared to its predecessor, the Core i5-13400, these results represent a significant improvement, with an 8% boost in single-core performance and an astonishing 29% increase in multi-core capabilities.

However, it’s crucial to note that these benchmarks are derived from a single entry in the Geekbench database. While the Core i5-13400 figures used for comparison are based on the average of multiple tested chips, the Core i5-14400’s exceptional performance could be attributed to factors such as enhanced cooling, robust BIOS support, and the utilization of DDR5-6000 (64 GB) memory.

These optimizations may not be reflective of the typical user experience, and in reality, the performance delta between the two processors is likely to be less than 5%.

Despite the potential for variations in real-world scenarios, the leaked benchmarks have generated considerable excitement among enthusiasts and prospective buyers. Moreover, the news that the Core i5-14400 is anticipated to be priced similarly to its predecessor, the Core i5-13400, further solidifies its appeal as an attractive upgrade option.

The appearance of Intel’s Core i5-14400 on Geekbench has provided a tantalizing preview of what the 14th Generation CPU has in store for consumers. With its impressive benchmark scores and well-balanced specifications, this processor is poised to make a significant impact upon its release in early 2024. As anticipation builds, tech enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to experience the Core i5-14400’s capabilities firsthand.
