The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom continues to amaze with its achievements. It sold over 10 million copies in three days, becoming the fastest-selling game in the series.
In the latest investor report, Nintendo revealed that Tears of The Kingdom sold an impressive 18.51 million copies between May 12 and June 30. Surpassing Breath of the Wild’s 17.41 million units, it now ranks as the second-bestselling Zelda game.
As per Nintendo’s recent financial report, encompassing earnings from April to June, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom accounted for 50% of its first-party game revenue. Alongside the billion-grossing Mario movie, it proved to be Nintendo’s most lucrative venture. The game has received universal acclaim for its stunning graphics, immersive gameplay, and emotional story that continues the saga of Link and Zelda in a post-apocalyptic Hyrule.
The company also noted that, a substantial portion of the sales came from players who had not experienced Breath of The Wild previously. The latest update has solidified its position as the 9th best-selling title on the Nintendo Switch.
Having enjoyed an impressive journey so far, the game is now on course to mirror the success of its predecessor. Nintendo’s recent report proudly states that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild has surpassed a remarkable 30.6 million copies sold.
Nintendo has also announced that it will release a free update for Tears of the Kingdom in August 2023, adding a new difficulty mode, a photo mode, and some quality-of-life improvements. Fans can also look forward to the first DLC pack, which will add a new playable character, new dungeons, and new items, in November 2023.
