Intel-Powered Mini-PC, NAS, 2.5GbE Router AIO Retails for $269

Intel-Powered Mini-PC, NAS, 2.5GbE Router AIO Retails for $269

AOOSTAR has unveiled the AOOSTAR R1, a multi-functional device powered by an Intel 13th Generation Alder Lake-N processor. Priced competitively at $269, this versatile gadget serves as a mini-PC, Network Attached Storage (NAS), and a high-speed 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (2.5GbE) router.

Measuring at a compact 6.38 x 6.38 x 7.8 inches and weighing a mere 2.2 pounds, the AOOSTAR R1 might appear unassuming at first glance. However, its capabilities far exceed its diminutive size. Equipped with Intel’s latest Alder Lake-N processor, the Intel N100, it boasts a quad-core, quad-thread configuration with E-cores capable of reaching a maximum turbo frequency of 3.4 GHz. The N100 operates at an energy-efficient 6W, positioning it as a favored choice for manufacturers of mini-PCs.Despite its modest power consumption, the N100 easily outperforms its predecessors, Celeron and Pentium chips. This is further complemented by a passive heat sink coupled with dual power-efficient cooling fans, ensuring optimal performance without compromising on thermal management. The AOOSTAR R1 is equipped with one SO-DIMM memory slot, accommodating a DDR4-3200 memory module, and a M.2 2280 NVMe slot for additional storage flexibility. For users seeking to harness the device’s NAS capabilities, two 3.5-inch drive bays are accessible beneath the top cover, facilitating the installation of high-capacity platter drives. Alternatively, these bays also support 2.5-inch drives for those preferring this form factor.

To leverage its full potential, users can load a Linux or BSD distribution onto the AOOSTAR R1, enabling a seamless transition between functions. Additionally, the device functions proficiently as a home server or router, offering two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, courtesy of the Intel i226V Ethernet controller. This feature, coupled with dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity through the Intel AX201 wireless module, ensures robust networking capabilities. In terms of connectivity, the AOOSTAR R1 is well-appointed with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB type-C port, a 3.5mm audio connector, and a DisplayPort 1.4 output, catering to a wide array of peripherals and displays. The AOOSTAR R1 is available in two variants: a barebones version, retailing at $259, and a more comprehensive model boasting 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, and pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro, priced at $319. For a limited time, customers can take advantage of a special pre-order offer at Amazon, bringing the price down to $269 by applying a $50 coupon code.

Amazon is slated to commence shipping of AOOSTAR R1 orders on October 26, promising eager customers timely access to this innovative device. For users in need of enhanced processing power, the AOOSTAR N1 Pro, featuring the formidable Ryzen 5 5500U, is also available for purchase at a competitive price point of $399.The AOOSTAR R1, with its trifecta of capabilities as a mini-PC, NAS, and 2.5GbE router, coupled with the power of the Intel Alder Lake-N processor, redefines the boundaries of what a compact computing device can achieve. With its accessibility and affordability, it stands poised to revolutionize the way users approach their computing and networking needs.
