Gigabyte Debuts ‘instant 6ghz’ For Intel Core I9-13900k On Z790 Motherboards

The “Instant 6GHz” feature allows users of Gigabyte 600/700-series (Intel-based) motherboards to instantly overclock their Core i9-13900K CPUs to 6GHz. Gigabyte claims that increasing the chip’s frequency to 6GHz will result in a 3% improvement in single-core performance. Gigabyte recently announced the rollout of a new BIOS for its Z790 motherboards because it is confident that all purchasers of Core i9-13900K processors will be able to achieve 6 GHz. a Gigabyte BIOS with Instant 6 GHz technology.

According to Gigabyte, when the feature is activated, the CPU voltage and Vcore Load Line Calibration is automatically adjusted to identify the two running cores that are the most optimized and to boost them to 6GHz. It is important to note that altering operating voltage has an impact on CPU temperature; as a result, if a feature rises in voltage, the CPU temperature will rise. So it is a good idea to get your thermal pastes renewed and your cooling system checked before attempting this overclock.

This 3% increase in single-core performance may not be worthwhile depending on your cooling system. However, you should give it a try if you have plenty of thermal headroom at sock rates. Currently, Intel plans to introduce the Core i9-13900KS in the first half of 2023. This processor will come pre-boost-clocked at 6GHz. This will be a huge breakthrough in the processor industry because very less processors can match that efficiency and overclock. It will be interesting to see what AMD would offer in its defense as well.

The Instant 6 GHz can automatically alter the CPU’s voltage and the Vcore load line calibration to determine which of the 8 potent cores should be used to achieve this frequency. One more step is required to achieve effortless overclocking, which Gigabyte saves for the Core i9-13900K and its Z790 motherboards and is consequently limited to 6 GHz. The Core i9-13900K is the next-gen processor in the industry and the Z790 motherboard is the best fit for it.

The recently released Intel® CoreTM i9-13900K CPU makes it easy for users to experience O.C. performance. The system may automatically adjust CPU voltage and Vcore Load Line Calibration to detect the most two optimized cores operating at 6GHz frequency using GIGABYTE’s most recent Instant 6GHz technology. Users can experience straightforward overclocking by simply updating to the most recent BIOS on GIGABYTE’s Z790 motherboards and turning on the Instant 6GHz option.

When combined with the Z690 motherboards, Intel’s 13th Gen flagship could be slower than the recently released Z790 motherboards. Benchmarks by @aschilling reveal that using the Core i9-13900K and ASUS ROG Z690 Hero together can result in performance losses of up to 25%. (BIOS 2103). Using a Z790 board, the 13900K achieves a 38,288-point score in Cinebench R23 (multi-threaded). When using the Z690, it drops to 28,911 points. a reduction of 25% exactly.

Users can enjoy seamless overclocking by simply installing the most recent BIOS on GIGABYTE Z790 motherboards and turning on the Instant 6GHz option in the BIOS, according to GIGABYTE. This gives a single core a 3% performance gain and gives the user a comparable experience to OC editing on the i9-13900K processor. When the chance presents itself, we won’t forget to test the Instant 6GHz feature on the GIGABYTE Z790 motherboards.

Overclocking is also pretty easy to perform. Just shut down and restart your computer in order to reach the BIOS. Press the DELETE, F2, or F10 keys repeatedly when the machine restarts. By doing this, you can access the BIOS settings on your PC. Depending on the manufacturer, brand, and model, different keys may be required. In most cases, a notice is shown, such as “Press F2 to enter Setup.” From there you just need to select CPU overclocking to enable it and you are good to go.

The Z790 motherboard did show a hindrance but in general AORUS Z790 series gaming motherboards perfectly maximize the performance of the most recent Intel®’s 13th generation processors. Before you even realize it, the full metal thermal solution is handling the heat produced by the monster power usage. Not to mention the top-tier compatibility with DDR5 memory and the lightning-fast path to the next-generation PCIe 5.0.
